This video is from an action that took place earlier this summer where DC Ward 1 Mutual Aid collaborated with our neighbors at the public housing unit Garfield Terrace to amplify their voices and their demands around their deplorable living conditions.

In short, Public Housing matters because Black Lives Matter. We can’t talk about lives having value without highlighting the systems that devalue the quality of those same lives. How can black lives matter if there’s no access to safe, affordable housing? To healthcare, education, clean air, clean food?

These are the intersections we must organize around.

We can not fight single issue fights. No one lives single issue lives.
